Last Week The Best Dressed Stars Championed Creative Detailing

Seeing black stars in real time punctuating our weeks with a slew of stunning, gracious, and fashionable impressions has become a norm, further proving that Black girls surely understand this thing called style. Last week, they continued the streak of giving high-octane moments in the slay department, and the result, as you’d expect, was a total vibe. Whether it was at the New York Film Festival, the Vogue Forces of Fashion event, or the Alexander McQueen fashion show in London, the best-dressed celebrities went for garments with creative detailing.

The looks

Still doing press runs for her upcoming movie “The Inspection,” Gabrielle Union closed the 60th New York Film Festival in style, wearing a custom gold and brown Prada number. The gold crochet detailing, which came together to form a triangular pattern through the form-fitting dress, added the glitzy touch the actress is well known for.

We can all agree that after fashion month comes the film festival and premiere month. This October, we’ve been blessed with back-to-back film festivals and movie premieres with celebrities showing up in their best red-carpet looks. Last week, lead actress Danielle Deadwyler looked like a sculpted goddess in an archive Armani Prive sleeveless dress studded with rhinestones that upped the glam effect. She accessorized the feminine number with dainty jewelry by De Beers as she showed up for the premiere of “Till.” Given the full-on sparkle on the dress, we can definitely agree that Deadwyler shone like the star she is.

Alexander McQueen might not have showcased at any of the major fashion weeks, but they did put on a wonderful and star-filled Spring/Summer 2023 show in London last week. At this show, it was Afropop singer Tiwa Savage who gained a moment as she made her way to the front row in the brand’s red leather trench coat, which she complemented with a pair of black leather boots and a silver leather purse. Talk about an absolute leather look!
