Head-to-Toe Yellow Is Spring 2022’s Most Optimistic Color Trend

If you were paying attention when Bottega green first came around, you know the importance of being on the pulse of a breaking color trend. Last summer, influencers, celebrities, and fashion insiders were all besotted by the grassy hue, while designers used leather pouches and strappy sandals as a canvas for it. Well, it’s time to make room in your closet for a new color trend—one that took over the Spring 2022 runways in one fell swoop. Presenting: lemon yellow.

Unlike its predecessor, yellow wasn’t just sprinkled in here and there via mini bags and shoes—models in full-on, head-to-toe yellow outfits swept the runways of nearly every Spring/Summer 2022 show. At Etro, it was all about lemon boyshorts and bowling shirts; at Chanel, creative director Virginie Viard dipped all things tweed in the sunny hue. Proenza Schouler, on the other hand, nailed two trends in one: marigold and fringe, which appeared together on the pier-turned-catwalk in several looks.
