Who Are Allegra and Alessandra Gucci? The Story Behind Maurizio Gucci and Patrizia Reggiani’s Daughters

You’ve surely seen the social media posts and read the headlines: Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci is coming soon—on Wednesday, November 24, to be exact. The highly anticipated biographical crime film is based on Sara Gay Forden’s 2000 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.

The film tells the real-life story of the assassination of Maurizio Gucci (played by Adam Driver) who was the former head of the luxury Italian fashion house that is his family’s namesake. As a huge name in fashion, the murder made headlines—especially when it was revealed to be  plotted by Gucci’s ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani. Her motive? Well, as the story goes, she was concerned she wouldn’t get her inheritance if Maurizio married his girlfriend of several years, Paola Franchi. Reggiani (who will be played by Lady Gaga in the movie) was convicted and sentenced to 29 years in prision but was let out early for good behavior in 2016, after serving 18 years. Now, she’s a free woman.
